Week of February 16–Presidents and Leaders

Posted on February 23, 2009.

The fourth and fifth grade APEX classes spent this week doing research. The fourth grade classes learned some interesting things about the presidents:

Who was the heaviest president? How much more did he weigh than the average 4th grader?

Who was the oldest elected president? Which president was the youngest person to become president? What was the difference in their ages?

Which president and his wife were in Hollywood movies at one time? He was known as the “Great Communicator.” How would a career as an actor help someone as president?

The fifth graders analyzed the recent ranking of the previous presidents by historians. They also brainstormed a list of famous leaders from their Social Studies book. Each student chose one of these leaders to research.
